What the Kansas part of the exam asks

The Kansas State Exam Content Outline, printed in the Kansas Real Estate Candidate Handbook, gives salesperson candidates 30 scored Kansas questions: duties and powers of the Commission 2, licensing requirements 4, requirements governing licensees' activities 5, prohibited acts 8, and the Brokerage Relationships in Real Estate Transactions Act (BRRETA) 11. The bank holds twice each count. The general part and its arithmetic are left out.

Use it as a Kansas real estate agent self-study guide

Every explanation names its section of the Kansas Statutes Annotated and links to the Revisor of Statutes' copy. BRRETA is the largest topic: Kansas forbids dual agency, and a broker with no agency agreement and no accepted subagency is a transaction broker (K.S.A. 58-30,103).

  • Earnest money is deposited within five business days after all parties sign, unless they agree otherwise in writing (K.S.A. 58-3062).
  • A written agency agreement with a buyer is due no later than the signing of an offer to purchase (K.S.A. 58-30,103).
  • Renewal takes 12 hours of continuing education in each renewal period (K.S.A. 58-3046a).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Kansas real estate exam?

The candidate handbook dated April 2025 gives the salesperson exam 80 scored general questions in 2.5 hours and 30 scored Kansas questions in 1.5 hours. Unscored pretest questions are mixed in: 5 on the general part and 10 on the Kansas part.

What is the passing score for the Kansas real estate exam?

What education does Kansas require for a salesperson's license?

K.S.A. 58-3046a asks for a principles of real estate course and a Kansas real estate practice course, each of at least 30 hours. K.S.A. 58-3039 adds a minimum age of 18 and a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Are these the real Kansas real estate exam questions?

No. They were written for this page from the Kansas statutes, and this site has never seen the state's exam. The Commission's regulations are not covered yet, and no licensed Kansas broker or attorney has reviewed the answers.
