How this list was compiled: Utah Code Title 31A, Chapter 35, the Bail Bond Act (sections 31A-35-101 to 31A-35-704), read on October 14, 2026 in the Utah Legislature's published copy of the chapter (https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title31A/Chapter35/31A-35.html). Each question names its section and links to that section's page. The Utah Insurance Department's page on individual bail bond applications (https://insurance.utah.gov/licensees/bail-bond/bail-bond-individual-application-fingerprinting-instructions/), read the same day, names the bail bond license among license types that do not require an examination. Licence: Own work. Every question, wrong choice and explanation was written for this site from the text of the law named under "source". Nothing comes from a state examination, its sample questions, a testing vendor, a prelicensing course or a prep publisher.

The license year

A bail bond agency license expires each year at midnight on August 31. An expired license can be reinstated on the renewal terms within one year; after that the initial licensing requirements apply (Utah Code 31A-35-406).

Three deadlines

Cash collateral reaches the agency's trust account within three business days. Collateral goes back within 10 days of a request after exoneration. A forfeiture judgment is paid within 15 days of the prosecutor's notice (31A-35-603, 31A-35-504).

What is left out

Statute only. Rules the commissioner makes under 31A-35-104, the forfeiture procedure in Title 77 and the bail enforcement agent law in Title 58 are not asked.

  • A producer may not solicit business in or about a jail or any court (Utah Code 31A-35-701).
  • Bond records are kept for the current calendar year plus the three prior years after liability ends (31A-35-604).
  • An early surrender without good cause means the premium is returned in full (31A-35-702).
