How it works

This printable CNA practice test comes as two paper forms of 40 questions of our own, each with an answer key. It is unofficial, not affiliated with any state nurse aide registry or testing company.

Read the full guide

What prints

The paper holds the form's 40 questions, with a line for the name, the date and the score. Tick the answer key and it follows on a new page, with the right letter, the reason and the source for each question, so it can be kept back from a class.

Two fixed forms

The page opens on Form A. For Form B, press Form B above the sheet. The two share no question, and neither repeats one from the on-screen CNA practice test.

What the forms cover

Each form spreads its 40 questions over the seven subject groups of the federal nurse aide course, 42 CFR 483.152(b), read October 7, 2026. Every answer was checked against MedlinePlus or the Code of Federal Regulations.

  • A state's real test may be longer or shorter than 40 questions. Its candidate handbook gives the count and the pass mark.

Questions and answers

Is this a free printable CNA practice test with answers?

Yes. Both forms print free with no sign-up. Tick the answer key and the paper ends with the right letter, the reason and the source for every question.

Can I save the CNA practice test as a PDF?

Yes. Press Print, then choose "Save as PDF" as the printer in the print window. The file holds the questions of the form on screen, and its answer key if that is ticked.

Is there a CNA final exam with 100 questions as a PDF?

Not on this page. Each form has 40 questions, 80 across the two, and the on-screen CNA practice test has 120 more. The federal rule sets no question count for a state test.

Are these questions from the real nursing assistant test?

No. Under 42 CFR 483.154 the real pool of questions is not disclosed. These forms are our own, written from public sources, and are not affiliated with any state registry or testing company.
