How this list was compiled: Our own questions, grouped by the elements of a first aid training program that OSHA lists in its Best Practices Guide: Fundamentals of a Workplace First-Aid Program (OSHA 3317, https://www.osha.gov/sites/default/files/publications/OSHA3317first-aid.pdf, read 2026-10-07): preparing to respond, assessing the scene and the person, life-threatening emergencies, and non-life-threatening emergencies. Every fact was read on 2026-10-07 in the 2024 American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid (https://cpr.heart.org/en/resuscitation-science/2024-first-aid-guidelines), in OSHA 3317, or on a public first aid page of redcross.org that the question names; each question gives its source and section. What it covers

The topics follow the elements of a first aid training program in OSHA's Best Practices Guide (OSHA 3317), read October 7, 2026: checking the scene and the person, sudden illness, bleeding, shock and wounds, burns, chemicals and poisons, bones, head, eyes and teeth, and heat, cold, bites and stings.

Where the answers come from

Each answer was read in the 2024 American Heart Association and American Red Cross Guidelines for First Aid, in OSHA's guide or on a public Red Cross page. The explanation names the section.

A quiz is not a course

This quiz gives no certificate. The Red Cross first aid page says its online-only class has no skills check and may not meet workplace requirements. CPR, AED and choking questions are on the CPR practice test.

  • The 2024 guidelines call 5 to 20 minutes of cooling with clean running water reasonable for a thermal burn.
  • Tap water is the one liquid the 2024 guidelines rule out for storing a knocked-out permanent tooth.

Yes. All 118 questions, the explanations, exam mode and the printable paper test are free, with no sign-up. Your answers stay in this browser.
