What the Idaho written exam covers

Prometric's content outline for Idaho, read October 9, 2026, has five areas, from the role of the nurse aide to care for residents with changes in health. Basic nursing care carries the most, 13 of the 50 questions the outline assigns to its areas, and this bank keeps those counts.

Idaho's own rules

Ten more questions cover Idaho's testing and registry rules: the six-month and twelve-month windows, three attempts, the 120-hour course and renewal.

Where the answers come from

Each answer names its public source: Idaho Code and rule, the Department's registry page, federal nursing home rules, or a CDC, MedlinePlus or National Institutes of Health page.

  • In Idaho the manual skills evaluation comes first: proof of passing it is brought to the written test.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Idaho CNA written test?

60 multiple-choice questions, by Prometric's Idaho bulletin and content outline. The outline, revised in 2016, allows 2 hours; the older bulletin says 90 minutes. Neither gives a pass mark, only an overall pass or fail.

Is there an Idaho certified nursing assistant study guide?

The state's own guides are Prometric's candidate bulletin and its written exam content outline, both free on Prometric's Idaho page. This page follows that outline, and every answer links to the public source it rests on.

How many times can you take the CNA test in Idaho?

Three attempts at each exam, by Prometric's Idaho bulletin. After three unsuccessful attempts, an approved training program is completed again before any further testing.

Are these the real Idaho CNA test questions?

No. Federal rule 42 CFR 483.154 keeps the real pool from being disclosed. These are our own questions, written from public sources. The sample test in Prometric's bulletin was not used.
