What the Alaska written exam covers
Alaska's candidate handbook, read October 9, 2026, splits the 60 scored questions across nine areas: 21 are on basic nursing skills, 13 on activities of daily living and 5 on client rights. The bank matches every count.
Alaska's own rules
Seven more questions cover the 140-hour course, the remedial course after three attempts, renewal in even-numbered years, 160 hours of paid work and 24 hours of continuing education.
Where the answers come from
Twenty-five questions are checked against Alaska's nurse aide regulations, 12 AAC 44, and eight against Alaska Statutes. The rest name federal rules or a CDC or National Institutes of Health page.
- A certified nurse aide is a mandated reporter in Alaska: a report of harm is due within 24 hours.
