How this list was compiled: Every question rests on one section of Pennsylvania law, read on 2026-10-04 and named in the question's own source line. The Liquor Code (Act 21 of 1951, 47 P.S.), read on the General Assembly's site, https://www.legis.state.pa.us/WU01/LI/LI/US/HTM/1951/0/0021..HTM : sections 102, 406, 471.1, 493(1), 493(13), 493(14), 495, 497 and 499. Title 40 of the Pennsylvania Code, chapter 5, subchapter I (Responsible Alcohol Management Program), read on the Pennsylvania Code and Bulletin site, https://www.pacodeandbulletin.gov/Display/pacode?file=/secure/pacode/data/040/chapter5/subchapItoc.html&d=reduce : sections 5.203 to 5.207, added effective August 28, 2021. The 80 percent score is the regulation's own (40 Pa. Code 5.205(b)(2)(ii)). Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the statute and regulation text; nothing is copied from a training provider, the board's course or another practice test. Short quotations from the law are marked.
How it works
This unofficial alcohol certification study guide, PA edition, holds 51 practice questions from the Liquor Code and the board's RAMP rules, each naming its section. The board's approved training certifies a server; this bank is state law only.

What RAMP covers, and what is here
Section 471.1 sets four parts: new employee orientation, server/seller training, owner/manager training and signage. This bank drills the law behind them: minors and visibly intoxicated persons, the identification list in section 495, hours of sale and the training deadlines. Spotting intoxication is taught in the course, not here.
Exam mode uses the rule's 80 percent
40 Pa. Code 5.205 counts server/seller training as passed at 80 percent or better on the board's final examination. No rule read gives a question count, so Exam mode draws 25, this site's choice, and marks them against 80 percent.
Train within six months of hire (471.1(h)); the certificate lasts two years (5.204(d)).
A RAMP-certified licensee keeps at least half its servers trained and orients each new hire within 30 days.
Section 495 gives three defenses for serving a minor: the signed age form, a photo or copy of the ID, or a scan.
Questions and answers
What score do you need to pass the PLCB server/seller exam?
80 percent or better on the board's final examination, under 40 Pa. Code 5.205(b)(2)(ii). The rules read give no number of questions. A score here measures this bank of state law questions, not the board's exam.
How long is RAMP server training good for in Pennsylvania?
Two years. Liquor Code section 471.1(f) makes the certification valid for two years, and 40 Pa. Code 5.204(d) says server/seller training expires after 2 years and must be renewed every 2 years.
How soon after being hired do PA servers need RAMP training?
Within six months of being hired by a licensed establishment, unless they finished it before, under section 471.1(h). Training completed within the two years before the hire date counts (40 Pa. Code 5.204(a)).
What IDs can a Pennsylvania bar accept?
Section 495(a) lists a valid photo driver's license or ID card from PennDOT or another state, a Canadian driver's license or other bona fide Canadian ID, a U.S. armed forces ID card, and a passport or travel visa with a photograph.
Are these the real PLCB exam questions?
No. They are unofficial practice written from the Liquor Code and the board's rules, and none is a question from the board's examination. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board did not write or review this page.
