The Legislature gives no address for a single section, so every link opens its searchable statutes database, https://lis.njleg.state.nj.us/nxt/gateway.dll?f=templates&fn=default.htm&vid=Publish:10.1048/Enu, where the section number is the thing to search for. Statutes only: the New Jersey Administrative Code was not read. The topics follow the Title Producer examination content outline (100 items, 70% correct, 3.5 hours; 25 items on regulation of the insurance industry in New Jersey and 75 on rules pertinent to title insurance), linked from the candidate information bulletin of the examination site that the Department of Banking and Insurance links from https://www.nj.gov/dobi/inslic.htm (the outline: https://proctor2.psionline.com/media/programs/NJINS/TitleProducerInstructor.pdf). The real property statutes (Titles 2A, 3B, 25, 46 and 54) stand where the outline cites a private handbook of title practice. Licence: Own work. Every question, wrong choice and explanation was written for this site from the text of the law. Nothing comes from a testing vendor, a prep course or an exam question pool.

How it works

This unofficial New Jersey title insurance practice test asks the law behind the Title Producer exam: 127 questions written from the Title Insurance Act and the state's recording, lien, foreclosure and tax sale statutes. Not affiliated with the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance.

What the real exam holds

The Title Producer outline has two parts: 25 items on regulation of the insurance industry in New Jersey, with the sections of the producer licensing and trade practice laws it cites, and 75 items on title insurance: legal aspects of real property, the Title Insurance Act, policy forms and fraud.

What is asked here, and what is not

The licensing part is asked from the statutes the outline cites. The title part is asked from the Title Insurance Act, the Insurance Fraud Prevention Act and New Jersey's recording, deed, lien, foreclosure, tax sale and estate statutes. Policy forms, the handbook of title practice the outline names and the New Jersey Administrative Code are not asked.

  • A title company mails the review notice at least 5 days before closing and keeps the evidence behind a policy 15 years (N.J.S.A. 17:46B-9).
  • A notice of settlement lasts 60 days and may be extended once; a lis pendens lasts five years (N.J.S.A. 46:26A-11, 2A:15-11).
  • An unlawful rebate costs up to five times its amount; a willful violation of the act up to $5,000 (N.J.S.A. 17:46B-37, 17:46B-51).
