What the Florida laws and rules questions cover

The department's candidate booklet, effective August 2024, lists seven subtopics under Florida Barber Laws and Rules: purpose of regulation, definition of terms, board membership, power, duties and procedures, licensure requirements, disciplinary guidelines, and maintaining licensure status. The Start from menu follows that list and adds the barbershop rules of Chapter 61G3-19.

Barber and restricted barber: two examinations

The restricted barber examination is laws and rules alone. On the barber examination that area weighs 25 percent; safety and sanitation, hair cutting, chemical procedures, hair structure, shaving and shampooing make up the rest and are not asked here, except the sanitation rules the Board adopted in Rule 61G3-19.011.

  • A barber course is 900 hours, a restricted barber course 600; a barber student may be certified to test after 600 (Section 476.114, Rule 61G3-16.006).
  • A restricted barber may cut, shave, trim beards and shampoo, with hair tonics and hair spray but no other chemical preparations (Rule 61G3-16.006).
  • An ultraviolet cabinet alone does not disinfect tools; they are immersed in EPA-registered disinfectant for one to five minutes (Rule 61G3-19.011).

Questions and answers

Is there a Florida restricted barber study guide?

This page works as one. The restricted barber examination covers the laws and rules of barbering in Florida (Rule 61G3-16.007), and each question here is written from Chapter 476 or a Barbers' Board rule, with the section under the answer.

How many questions are on the Florida barber exam?

The department's candidate booklet, effective August 2024, gives 100 multiple-choice questions in three hours for barbers and 30 questions in one hour for restricted barbers. Both need 70 percent. Exam mode here uses the restricted barber format.

Are these the real Florida barber exam questions?

No. This site has never seen the examination, and neither the Department of Business and Professional Regulation nor the Barbers' Board wrote or reviewed any of these questions.
