What the Georgia master barber theory test asks

Georgia's Master Barber Test Taker Guide, version 2.1 (effective April 28, 2026; opened October 9, 2026), weights eight topics: safety and infection control 31 percent, client consultation and hair and skin analysis 15, hairstyling 5, haircutting 8, haircoloring 7, chemical texture services 7, skin care 5 and shaving 22.

Georgia rules, added on top

Ten more questions ask the Board's own rules for shops, barber schools, apprentices and examinations. The published theory outline lists no Georgia law, so that group is extra.

  • Used razor blades go in a sharps container kept upright, with OSHA biohazard labels and its safety flap lid in place (Georgia Rule 240-4-.03).
  • A neck strip is single use, and a neck duster is multi-use only with nylon bristles that can be disinfected (Georgia Rule 240-4-.04).
  • FDA says to do a skin test before every hair color and to wait 14 days after bleaching, relaxing or perming.

Questions and answers

Is this a state board barber practice test for GA, and are the questions real?

It follows the theory outline Georgia's test publisher prints. The questions are ours, written from the Board's rules, OSHA, FDA, MedlinePlus, the American Academy of Dermatology and two Wikipedia articles on barber tools. Nothing is taken from the examination or its reference textbooks.

How many questions are on the Georgia master barber theory test?

Ninety-five: 85 that count and 10 unscored experimental questions, with 120 minutes on the clock. The Test Taker Guide and Board Rule 240-6-.02 both put the pass mark at 70 percent. A round on this page is shorter.

What does this Georgia barber practice test leave out?

The practical examination, which is hands-on. Also left out, because no public source states them: the order of the shaving strokes, cutting technique for each hair type, facial massage movements and the chemistry of permanent waves and relaxers.
