What the Georgia theory test asks

Georgia's Esthetician Test Taker Guide, version 1.9 (effective April 28, 2026; opened October 9, 2026), weights six topics: safety and infection control 40 percent, client consultation and skin analysis 19, skin care 17, hair removal 15, eyelash and eyebrow 6, makeup 3. This bank holds 30, 14, 13, 11, 5 and 2 questions on them, and 10 more on the Board's rules.

Georgia rules behind the answers

Chapter 240-4 of the Board's rules sets ten-minute immersion, a solution changed daily, labeled storage for clean and dirty implements, and the single use list. Forty-seven of the 85 questions rest on a Board rule.

  • Ultraviolet lights, dishwashers and steam devices never count as disinfection in Georgia; a UV cabinet is for storage only (Rules 240-4-.04 and 240-4-.05).
  • Tools cannot be stored in disinfectant: immerse 10 minutes, rinse, blot dry, then a closed drawer labeled Clean Implements (Rule 240-4-.04).
  • Muslin strips, wooden spatulas, cotton and disposable gloves are single use; tweezers and reusable pencil sharpeners are multi-use (Rule 240-4-.04).

Questions and answers

Is this Georgia esthetics state board exam practice test free, and are the questions real?

It is free, with no account. The questions are ours, written from Department 240 of Georgia's Rules and Regulations and public federal pages such as OSHA's, EPA's, FDA's and MedlinePlus. Nothing is taken from the exam or its reference textbooks.

How many questions are on the Georgia esthetician theory exam?

Eighty-five: 75 that count and 10 unscored experimental questions, with 90 minutes on the clock. The Test Taker Guide and Board Rule 240-6-.02 both put the pass mark at 70 percent.

Does this cover the Georgia esthetician practical exam?

No. The practical is a separate test of about 85 minutes in which a basic facial, eyebrow waxing and tweezing, and a makeup application are performed and rated.
