The general exam
Qualified supervisors and certified operators take the general exam, then a category exam for each kind of work. The department's Licensing and Examination Guide, read October 8, 2026, lists seven subject areas for it. This Colorado pesticide applicator practice test is the state half of the first, laws and regulations.
What is left out
Labels, formulations, pest biology, safety, the environment and calibration are not here, nor are the federal acts the guide names. Federal label and worker protection rules are on the pesticide applicator practice test.
Exam mode
Exam mode draws 40 questions, our number, at the state's 70% pass mark. The guide allows two hours for the real general exam and gives no question count.
- A technician may mix a restricted-use pesticide with the supervisor away, but may apply it only with the supervisor on site.
- Records are kept three years by commercial applicators and two by private applicators.
