Every question, wrong choice and explanation was written for this site from the text of the statute and the rules. Nothing comes from an examination, a course provider, a prep course or a question pool.
How it works
This unofficial Arkansas home inspector license practice test asks what state law says: 81 of our own questions from the Home Inspectors Registration Act and the Board's rules. Not affiliated with the State Board of Appraisers, Abstracters, and Home Inspectors.

What the questions cover
The Registration Act section by section: definitions, the Board, insurance, unfair practices, exemptions and the one-year limit on lawsuits. Then the Board's rules on registration, education, the examinations, renewal, continuing education, fees, report contents, complaints and discipline.
What is left out
The standards of practice and code of ethics, and how building systems work. Arkansas adopts a national association's standards by reference (17 CAR 200-508) and tests them with a national association's examination, so their text is not asked here.
A registration always expires on a December 31, whatever the date it was issued (Section 17-52-317).
Renewal takes 14 hours of continuing education a year, at least 8 of them in mandatory courses (17 CAR 200-506).
Keep an exact copy of every report for at least five years (17 CAR 200-508).
Questions and answers
What exams does Arkansas require for a home inspector?
Two, both from outside bodies: the National Home Inspector Examination and a standards and ethics examination given by a national home inspector association (17 CAR 200-502). The test provider sets the passing score, which stays valid for five years.
Does Arkansas have its own home inspector exam?
No. The state writes no examination and publishes no question count or pass mark. The 50-question test offered here is this site's choice, on Arkansas law only.
Is it a license or a registration in Arkansas?
A registration. Under the Arkansas Home Inspectors Registration Act the State Board of Appraisers, Abstracters, and Home Inspectors issues a certificate of registration, and acting as a home inspector without one is a misdemeanor (Section 17-52-309).
How do you become a home inspector in Arkansas?
Be 18 with a high school diploma, complete 80 hours of approved qualifying education within three years, pass both examinations, file proof of $100,000 liability insurance, and pay the $250 registration fee (17 CAR 200-501, 200-502, 200-510).
Is there an Arkansas home inspector study guide?
The Board publishes the law, not a guide: its copies of the Registration Act and of the Code of Arkansas Rules for home inspectors, which every question here cites.
