What the Arkansas barber exam is
The State Board of Barber Examiners gives its own examination: a practical demonstration and a written and oral test (Arkansas Code 17-20-304). The application is due at least ten business days before the examination date (17-20-422).
What this page practices
The Board publishes no outline of the written part, so this bank asks the texts it posts: the Arkansas Barber Law, Arkansas Code 17-20-101 to 17-20-503, and its rules, 17 CAR Part 275. Section 17-20-423 has every barber college give each student the sanitary rules on enrollment. Hair, skin and shaving theory is not asked.
- Powder puffs, finger bowls, sponges, styptic pencils and alum are positively prohibited (17 CAR 275-103).
- A barber does not treat pimples, boils, warts or moles; the client is referred to a licensed physician (17 CAR 275-104).
- Registration renews each year between July 1 and September 1, and an unrenewed certificate expires September 1 (Arkansas Code 17-20-307).
