How it works
This free, unofficial Utah MPJE study guide is a practice test: 60 of our own pharmacy law questions. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) owns the exam; this page is not affiliated with it or any Utah agency.

A Utah pharmacy law study guide in question form
Every question was written from two public texts read October 14, 2026: the Pharmacy Practice Act, Utah Code Title 58, Chapter 17b, on the Legislature's site, and the Pharmacy Practice Act Rule, R156-17b, effective August 8, 2025. The Division of Professional Licensing links both from its pharmacy page. The four areas, and how many questions each gets, follow the MPJE Competency Statements on NABP's site.
Utah law only
NABP's list of Uniform MPJE jurisdictions, read October 14, 2026, does not include Utah, and the rule still names the Utah MPJE. No question here comes from the Utah Controlled Substances Act. Federal law is practiced on the federal pharmacy law page. This is practice for an exam and not medical advice.
- A prescription may not be dispensed after one year from the date it was initiated, or refilled after two years (58-17b-609).
- Emergency refill: never a controlled substance; with the prescription on file, the lesser of a 30-day supply or the last quantity (58-17b-608).
- Numbers in the rule: 1,740 intern hours, 30 CE hours each two years, inventory records five years, a surrender notice within ten days of closing.
Questions and answers
Is this Utah MPJE study guide free?
Yes. All 60 questions, the answers and the section named under each are free to use, and nothing asks you to sign up. Your answers stay in this browser.
How many questions are on the Utah MPJE?
The real exam has 120 questions and lasts 2.5 hours, on a computer that adapts to your answers, according to NABP's test day page. The timed run on this page is 60 questions in 75 minutes: half the length, the same pace.
What is the passing score for the Utah MPJE?
Rule R156-17b-303c asks for the Utah MPJE with a passing score established by NABP, within five years of graduation. Because NABP reports only pass or fail, your result here is a percent with no verdict.
How many times can you take the Utah MPJE?
NABP allows five attempts per jurisdiction. Under R156-17b-303c, an applicant who has failed a required examination three times meets with the Board to request up to two more attempts.
Are these real Utah MPJE questions?
No. Every one of the 60 was written for this site from the Utah statute and rule as published. The MPJE, the Pre-MPJE and NABP's sample items were not used, and no Utah agency has looked at them.
