How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the seven lines of the mathematics content list in the PERT Study Guide published on the Florida Department of Education's site (https://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/5592/urlt/0078248-pert-studentstudyguide.pdf, read 2026-10-12): equations (linear, inequalities, quadratic, literal), evaluating algebraic expressions, polynomials, dividing by monomials and binomials, standard algorithms or concepts, coordinate planes, and pairs of simultaneous linear equations. The guide gives no share of the test for any line; the bank holds 16, 7, 12, 5, 8, 7 and 5. Test format (three subtests of 30 questions each, of which 25 count toward the placement score and 5 are field-test questions; untimed; computer adaptive; not pass or fail) from the department's page Demonstration of College Readiness (https://www.fldoe.org/schools/higher-ed/fl-college-system/academics/common-placement-testing.stml, read 2026-10-12) and the same study guide. Every answer was worked out a second time from the numbers the question prints. Licence: Questions, choices and explanations are original work of this site.

How it works

This PERT math practice test has 60 algebra questions of our own, on the seven content lines the state's study guide lists. It is unofficial and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the Florida Department of Education.

What the PERT math test covers

The PERT Study Guide on the Florida Department of Education's site, read October 12, 2026, lists seven content lines: equations (linear, inequalities, quadratic and literal), evaluating expressions, polynomials, dividing by monomials and binomials, standard algorithms, lines on the coordinate plane, and pairs of linear equations. It gives no share for each, so this bank's split is our own.

PERT math and Algebra 1

The state does not call the subtest Algebra 1, but its rule sets the two side by side. Rule 6A-10.0315 accepts a 4 on the Algebra 1 end-of-course assessment as a demonstration of readiness for college-level work, as it accepts a 114 on PERT mathematics.

  • On the real test you cannot return to a question, so put your answer back into the equation before you move on.
  • Check a factoring answer by multiplying the factors back out.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the PERT math test?

Thirty, the state's study guide says. The department's page adds that 25 of them are the basis of your placement score and 5 are field-test questions. Exam mode on this page asks 30 questions and holds the answers until the end.

Can you use a calculator on the PERT math test?

Not your own. The study guide says a standard four-function calculator opens on screen, from an icon at the top of the test, for certain questions. Ask your college testing center what else you may bring.

What is a passing score on the PERT math test?

There is none: the PERT is not a pass or fail test. Florida's Rule 6A-10.0315 sets 114 as the mathematics score for enrolling in college-level courses. Below it, a college advises you on its developmental education options.

Is the PERT math test timed?

No. The department's page calls the PERT an untimed computer adaptive test, so each question is chosen from your answers to earlier ones. The study guide adds that your score is available as soon as you submit.
