What the Mississippi Algebra 1 state test covers
The MAAP blueprint spreads the points over four reporting categories. Algebra is about half: reading and rewriting expressions, polynomials, writing equations, and solving equations, inequalities, quadratics and systems. Functions is about a third: notation, sequences, features of graphs, rate of change, shifts of a graph, and linear against exponential growth. Statistics and Probability is about a tenth. Number and Quantity, the smallest, is irrational numbers, units and accuracy.
How the answers are checked
A question's source line carries its standard in the code Mississippi uses, such as A-REI.4 for quadratic equations or S-ID.9 for correlation and causation. Each answer was then worked a second time from the numbers in the question.
A graphing calculator is allowed on every item of the real test, so practice with the one you will use that day.
Questions and answers
Is this the Mississippi state test practice test for math, Algebra 1, from the state?
No. The Mississippi Department of Education posts an Algebra I practice test and a sampler of its own, each with a key, on the resources page linked under the questions. This page is separate and unofficial.
How many questions are on the Mississippi Algebra 1 state test?
70 items: 60 that count, worth 65 points, and 10 field test items. Exam mode here asks all 60 questions in the blueprint's 180 minutes.
How long is the MS Algebra 1 state test?
180 minutes, three hours, in one session. The blueprint notes that timing accommodations are available to students with a documented need on an IEP or a 504 Plan.
Can you use a calculator on the Mississippi Algebra 1 state test?
Yes, on every item. The state's policy allows a graphing calculator and bars any with a computer algebra system or an equation solver. The online test has a graphing calculator built in.
What is on the Mississippi Algebra 1 reference sheet?
Unit conversions; area, circumference and volume formulas; the Pythagorean theorem; the quadratic formula; and the formulas for arithmetic and geometric sequences, exponential growth and decay, and compound interest.
