CEOE Severe-Profound/Multiple Disabilities study guide: the outline of field 131
By the framework read October 15, 2026, four subareas are selected response: understanding students, 14% of the test; assessment, IEPs and IFSPs, 13%; promoting learning, communication and social skills, 38%; foundations and professional practice, 20%. This bank holds 8, 8, 22 and 12. The last 15% is a written case study on one student's data, which this page leaves to the study guide.
Federal rules, then classroom practice
Twenty questions cite the federal regulations, 34 CFR Parts 200, 300 and 303: the definition of multiple disabilities, the 1.0 percent cap on alternate assessments, benchmarks in the IEP, related services. The rest cover communication systems, prompting, positioning equipment and behavior support. This is practice for an exam, not medical advice.
Subarea III holds six of the thirteen selected-response competencies and 38% of the test.
IDEA's definition of multiple disabilities leaves out deaf-blindness, which has a category of its own.
