What is left out
Law only, and each question cites its section. Licensing fees, application forms, the facility and equipment lists for sedation permits in Den 304, opioid prescribing in Den 503 and the two national ethics codes the exam also covers are not asked. Statute and rules are as they stood on the General Court's site on October 16, 2026. Practice for an exam, not medical advice.
- A certified public health dental hygienist needs 3,200 hours of practice and a written collaborative agreement with a New Hampshire dentist (Den 302.08).
- Dentists owe 40 CEUs per biennium and dental hygienists 20 (Den 406.03).
- Records are kept at least 7 years from the last treatment; a minor's, 7 years past the age of majority (RSA 317-A:27-a).
Questions and answers
Is the New Hampshire dental jurisprudence exam open book?
Yes. Den 303.03 says the examination is open book and is taken at home electronically on a secure website the office of professional licensure and certification provides, or with pen and paper if the applicant asks.
What is the passing score on the New Hampshire dental jurisprudence exam?

What does the New Hampshire jurisprudence exam cover?
Den 303.03 lists RSA 317-A, the administrative rules Den 100 through 500, and the national codes of ethics for dentists and for dental hygienists. This page asks the statute and the rules only.
Who has to take the New Hampshire dental jurisprudence exam?
Each applicant for initial licensure as a dentist or registered dental hygienist, under Den 303.03. A licensee who reinstates a lapsed license to active status retakes it, under Den 301.08.
Is this the board's exam?
No. The questions were written for this site from the public statute and rules, never from the examination. The New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners and the office of professional licensure and certification have not reviewed this page.
