How it works
An unofficial Nebraska dental jurisprudence practice test: 84 of our own questions on the Dentistry Practice Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. 38-1101 to 38-1153, and 172 NAC 53, 55, 56 and 57. The Nebraska Board of Dentistry approves the real examination and is not affiliated.

What is left out
Law only, and each question cites its section. Fees, the equipment lists for sedation permits, dental faculty licenses and the general credentialing rules of 172 NAC 10 are not asked. Statutes are as they stood on the Nebraska Legislature's site on October 14, 2026. Practice for an exam, not medical advice.
- All dentistry licenses and permits expire on March 1 of each odd-numbered year (172 NAC 56-006).
- Dentists, dental hygienists and licensed dental assistants each owe 30 hours of continuing education every 24 months (172 NAC 56-007, 57-006, 53-006).
- A hygienist gives local anesthesia only under indirect supervision, with the dentist on the premises (Neb. Rev. Stat. 38-1132, 38-1110).
Questions and answers
What score do you need on the Nebraska dental jurisprudence exam?
75 or above. 172 NAC 56-003.01 asks dentists for passage of the jurisprudence examination with a score of 75 or above, and 172 NAC 57 and 53 set the same mark for dental hygienists and licensed dental assistants.
How many questions are on the Nebraska dental jurisprudence exam?
The regulations and the department's licensing page give no question count or time limit, so this page does not guess one. A scored run here asks 25 questions and applies the 75 mark, with no clock.
Who has to take the Nebraska jurisprudence exam?
Applicants for a dentist, dental hygienist or licensed dental assistant license, under Neb. Rev. Stat. 38-1117, 38-1118 and 38-1118.02. Expanded function permits carry their own jurisprudence examination, also passed at 75 or above.
What does the Nebraska dental jurisprudence exam cover?
Neb. Rev. Stat. 38-1117 says it is based on the Nebraska statutes, rules and regulations governing the practice of dentistry: the Dentistry Practice Act and the dental chapters of Title 172 of the Nebraska Administrative Code.
Is this the board's exam?
No. The questions were written for this site from the public statutes and regulations, never from the examination. The Nebraska Board of Dentistry and the Department of Health and Human Services have not reviewed this page.
