How it works

What the exam covers
The outline's five parts, by scored questions: surety contracts 10, purpose and type of surety bonds 10, bail bond procedures 14, fiduciary responsibilities 14, terms 2.
The 90-day window
Sureties who surrender the defendant within 90 days after a forfeiture have it discharged without penalty. Notice of the forfeiture order is mailed within 10 working days, or the bond becomes void (MCA 46-9-503).
What is left out
Law only. Outline items with no Montana section behind them, such as underwriting and the dictionary terms, are not asked. The license questions come from MCA Title 33, chapter 17, and ARM 6.6.6007.
Collateral is capped at two and one-half times the bond unless no other collateral is available (ARM 6.6.6003).
Report each arrest or surrender to the commissioner's office in writing within seven business days (ARM 6.6.6006).
