Read the full guide

The three parts of the outline

Insurance regulation is 15 percent of the exam, the legal framework 24 percent, bail bond principles and practices 61 percent.

What is left out

Statutes and Regulation 42 only. Outline items no New York law states, such as the kinds of authority and the elements of a contract, are not asked. The regulation was read as compiled through September 30, 2021.

  • Surrender is open only before forfeiture, and a certified copy of the bond goes to the sheriff (CPL 530.80).
  • Remission of a forfeiture is sought within one year, on five days' notice to the district attorney (CPL 540.30).
