How it works
This unofficial Minnesota nail technician practice test follows the State Examination outline on Minnesota laws and rules. It is not affiliated with the Minnesota Board of Cosmetologist Examiners or PSI Services LLC, and no question comes from the examination.

What the Nail Technician State Examination covers
The Candidate Information Bulletin names the statute sections and rule parts behind four areas: general information 15 percent, licensing 25, practice requirements 45 and enforcement 15. This bank holds 9, 15, 27 and 9 questions on them, from Minnesota Statutes chapter 155A and Minnesota Rules chapter 2105.
What the other two examinations ask
The general theory examination weights safety and infection control 35 percent, client consultation 5, nail structure and physiology 15, basic manicure and pedicure 25 and artificial nail enhancements 20. It and the written practical are written from textbooks and are not asked here; the national manicure theory test on this site practices that ground.
- Pedicure tub screens, jets and footplates come out and are scrubbed after each service, not at closing (Minn. R. 2105.0375, subp. 12).
- Alcohol is not a disinfecting agent, and UV sterilizers may not be in the salon; UV nail lamps may (Minn. R. 2105.0375, 2105.0377).
- Every nail file is single-use unless it is metal, glass, crystal or fully glazed ceramic (Minn. R. 2105.0375, subp. 13).
