How it works

This unofficial Kentucky adjuster license practice test asks the state-law parts of the adjuster exam: 103 of our own questions from the Kentucky Revised Statutes, each naming its section. Not affiliated with the Kentucky Department of Insurance.

Read the full guide

Which parts of the outline these are

The department's study outline gives Kentucky Law 16 percent of the exam and workers' compensation 10 percent. The topics here follow those two parts. Policy forms, claim handling and crop forms are not asked.

Public adjuster study guide for Kentucky: the 2026 law

The outline is older than the law. The public adjuster sections were amended in 2026 (KRS 304.9-430 to 304.9-4333): the insured has five business days to rescind a contract, the insurer gets a signed notice within 72 hours, and a public adjuster may not negotiate with an insurer for two years from July 15.

  • An adjuster shall not represent the interest of both the insurer and the insured or claimant (806 KAR 9:030).
  • A claim is paid within 30 days of notice and proof of claim; with no good faith attempt to settle by then, the settlement bears 12 percent interest (KRS 304.12-235).
  • An apprentice adjuster license lasts at most twelve months and is nonrenewable (KRS 304.9-432).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Kentucky adjuster exam?

The department's Adjuster Examination Study Outline, dated March 2012, lists 50 items. It prints no time limit and no pass mark, so this page gives neither. The department gives the exam at Frankfort and at regional testing sites.

What kinds of adjuster license does Kentucky issue?

Independent, staff and public adjuster licenses (KRS 304.9-430). Independent and staff adjusters qualify in property and casualty, workers' compensation or crop; public adjusters in property and casualty or crop. The statutes spell it adjuster, so a KY adjustor license is the same license.

Can I get a public adjuster license in Kentucky now?

Not a new one. For two years beginning April 13, 2026, the department shall not issue public adjuster licenses, except to a person who held a temporary or apprentice adjuster license on that date. Licenses already in effect may be renewed (KRS 304.9-430(1)).

How much can a public adjuster charge in Kentucky?

A reasonable fee of no more than 10 percent of the insurance settlement proceeds the insured actually receives, collected after the insured has been paid (KRS 304.9-4333).

Is this Kentucky adjuster license practice test free?

Yes. All 103 questions are open, and your answers stay in your browser. The questions were written for this page from the statutes; none comes from the state exam, and the Kentucky Department of Insurance did not write or review them.
