How it works

This unofficial Louisiana adjuster license practice test asks the state-law parts of the Property and Casualty Adjuster exam, Series 204: 94 of our own questions from Title 22 of the Revised Statutes. Not affiliated with the Louisiana Department of Insurance.

Read the full guide

Which parts of Series 204 these are

Louisiana Insurance Regulation is 23 percent of the outline: licensing, claim settlement law and the commissioner. The valued policy law, the standard fire policy and Louisiana Citizens sit in other parts. The topics here follow those.

Louisiana adjuster study guide: newer law than the outline

The outline is dated September 13, 2016 and cites R.S. 22:1674 for the standards of conduct. That section was repealed in 2021. The questions use its replacement, R.S. 22:1674.1, and the claim deadlines of R.S. 22:1892 as they read today.

Exam mode

Exam mode draws 75 questions in 80 minutes, half the real length at the real pace, and marks a pass at 70 percent.

  • A claims adjuster may not solicit work for an attorney or contractor or take an interest in salvage (R.S. 22:1674.1).
  • An insurer pays an adjuster a regular fixed salary or stipend, never a share of the amount saved (R.S. 22:1675).
  • Standard fire policy: proof of loss within sixty days, suit within twenty-four months of the loss (R.S. 22:1311).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Louisiana adjuster exam?

The Property and Casualty Adjuster exam, Series 204, has 150 questions and allows 160 minutes, by its content outline. Separate outlines cover the automobile, personal lines, commercial lines, crop, workers' compensation and public adjuster exams.

What is the passing score for the Louisiana adjuster license exam?

70 percent correct, by the Series 204 content outline. A score on this page predicts nothing about the real exam: the questions here cover the state-law parts only, and none comes from the exam.

Is this Louisiana adjuster license practice test free?

Yes. All 94 questions are open, and your answers stay in your browser. The questions were written for this page from the statutes, and the Louisiana Department of Insurance did not write or review them.

How many continuing education hours does a Louisiana adjuster need?

Twenty-four hours every two years, including ethics, with at least two hours on legislative updates in insurance law (R.S. 22:1673). An adjuster renewing for the first time after the license was issued is exempt.

How long does a Louisiana insurer have to pay a claim?

Thirty days after it receives satisfactory proofs of loss (R.S. 22:1892(A)(1)). It must initiate loss adjustment within fourteen days of notification of the loss, or within thirty days for a catastrophic loss.
