How it works

What the Georgia nail technician exam is
Georgia's examination has a theory part and a practical part. The theory part is 60 scored questions and 5 unscored ones in 90 minutes, weighted 50 percent to safety and infection control, 18 to client consultation and nail analysis, 10 to skin care and 22 to nail care.
What this bank asks
Twenty-three questions on safety and infection control, over half of them on pedicure equipment; 14 on nail tools; and 18 on training, apprenticeship and licensure rules, which the outline does not list. The Board's rules do not teach nail structure, disorders, massage or enhancement steps, so none of that is here: the national manicure theory test on this site asks it.
- Between clients a pedicure unit is cleaned, then disinfected for at least 15 minutes (Rule 240-4-.04(4)).
- Sanding sleeves, emery boards and porous foot files are single use; metal drill bits and metal files are multi-use (Rule 240-4-.04).
- Cutters, scrapers and graters are barred along with credo blades (Rule 240-4-.03(8)).

No. Each of the 55 was written here from a rule of the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology and Barbers and links to its chapter on the Secretary of State's rules site. No question of the real examination was used.
