What each grade 8 test covers

Mathematics puts 23 of its 58 points on functions, lines of best fit and systems of equations, and 16 on expressions and linear equations. Science is physical science: matter (28%), waves (24%), energy (18%), and motion and force (15% each). Social studies is Georgia Studies. Half of it is the state's history; the rest is government (20%), geography and economics (15% each).

A source under every answer

Most Georgia Studies answers name the New Georgia Encyclopedia or National Archives page the fact was read on, and most science answers a NASA, NOAA or Department of Energy page. Math answers were worked out twice.

  • Grade 8 mathematics allows a graphing or scientific calculator, and Georgia provides a formula sheet. Practice with both.
  • The grade 8 science test comes with a periodic table. Know how to read an atomic number from it.
