CDL Practice Tests by Endorsement and Knowledge Test Section

One unofficial question bank for each CDL knowledge test, with the source section shown on every question.

15 pages

All 15 tools

These are unofficial practice tests for the CDL knowledge tests, one page for each section or endorsement: general knowledge, air brakes, combination vehicles, hazardous materials, tank vehicles, passenger, school bus, and doubles and triples. Four more sit beside them: the federal rules behind the pre-trip inspection, the federal coil rule behind New York's metal coil endorsement, entry-level driver training theory, and the Texas Commercial Rules exam, written from the Texas Transportation Code.

More about these tools

Every question names the section its answer comes from. On the federal pages that is nearly always Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations. Driving technique that appears only in a state CDL manual is left out, so each bank covers the rules part of its test and says so. A pass in exam mode therefore means the written rules only. On the eight knowledge test pages, exam mode passes at the federal mark of 80 percent.
