How this list was compiled: Outline: AASA Math Blueprints (Arizona Department of Education, October 2021), https://www.azed.gov/sites/default/files/2021/10/Math%20AzM2%20Blueprint%202016%20Standards_AASA%20Oct%202021.pdf, and the AASA Grade 4 Math Item Specifications (updated January 2026), https://www.azed.gov/sites/default/files/2026-07/AASA_Gr4_Math_Item_Specifications.pdf, both linked from the department's AASA page, https://www.azed.gov/assessment/aasa, read 2026-10-13. Each question names the Arizona Mathematics Standard it practices as the item specifications number it and keeps that standard's content limits. Every numeric answer is arithmetic on the numbers in the question, worked a second time. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site. Nothing is copied or reworded from an AASA, AzM2 or AzMERIT test, a sample test, a scoring guide or another practice test. No sample test item was read.

AzMERIT practice test 4th grade questions, on today's test
Every question can be worked by hand. Under each answer are the steps and the Arizona standard it practices, such as 4.NF.B.3c.
An answer such as 1 6/8 is finished. The item specifications say fourth graders are not steered to put fractions in lowest terms.
Questions and answers
Is the AzMERIT test still given in 4th grade?
Under a new name. The state's technical report says AzMERIT was renamed AzM2 beginning in 2019-2020 and AASA, Arizona's Academic Standards Assessment, beginning in 2021-2022, with the same cut scores. Every Arizona public school fourth grader takes it.
How many questions are on the 4th grade AASA math test?
53, in two units: 45 scored items worth one point each and 8 field-test items that do not count. Unit 1 has 27 items and Unit 2 has 26.
Can 4th graders use a calculator on the AASA math test?
No. Arizona's calculator guidance permits no calculator on AASA in grades 3 to 6. Scientific calculators begin in grade 7, on Math Unit 1 only.
How long is the 4th grade AASA math test?
It is untimed. The state estimates 60 to 85 minutes for each of the two math units, and a unit must be finished the day it is started. The spring 2027 window opens April 12.
What is a passing score on 4th grade AASA math?
There is no pass mark. Scores fall in four levels, and Proficient in grade 4 math is a scale score of 3562 to 3605. Highly Proficient starts at 3606. A percent on this page is not a scale score.
