Questions and answers

Is the AZ Merit practice test for 3rd grade now AASA?

Yes. AzMERIT became AzM2 beginning in 2019-2020 and AASA beginning in 2021-2022, with the same cut scores, the state's technical report says. Third grade is the youngest grade that takes it.

How many questions does the 3rd grade AASA math test have?

Two units, one of 27 questions and one of 26. Of the 53, 45 count toward the score at one point each. The other 8 are field-test questions and are not scored.

What score is Proficient on 3rd grade AASA math?

A scale score of 3531 to 3572. Below it are Minimally Proficient, 3395 to 3494, and Partially Proficient, 3495 to 3530. Highly Proficient runs from 3573 to 3605.

Does this AzMERIT math practice test for 3rd grade include reading?

No. It is mathematics only. On the real test, 3rd graders also take English language arts: a writing unit, two reading units and oral reading fluency passages that only grade 3 has.
