What the grade 4 Forward Exam asks in mathematics
The blueprint spreads 48 points over five categories. Fractions has the most, 13 to 15: equal fractions, comparing, adding, subtracting, multiplying by a whole number, and decimals to hundredths. Operations and Algebraic Thinking and Base Ten have 10 to 12 each: comparison word problems, factors, primes and patterns, then place value and multi-digit arithmetic. Measurement and Data has 6 to 8, and Geometry 4 to 6.
Limits the Wisconsin standards set for grade 4
The Wisconsin Standards for Mathematics (2021) keep fractions on the grade 4 test to denominators 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 100, and whole numbers to 1,000,000. Unlike fractions are added only when the denominators are related, such as fourths and eighths. Each answer names its standard, such as M.4.NF.B.3.
Neither session allows a calculator, so do the multi-digit multiplying and dividing on paper.
