What the grade 4 RISE math test covers
The blueprint shares 50 operational items among four domains. Number and Operations in Base Ten and Number and Operations - Fractions take 28 to 32 percent each: place value, rounding and multi-digit arithmetic, then equal fractions, comparing, like denominators, a fraction times a whole number, and decimals to hundredths. Operations and Algebraic Thinking takes 18 to 22 percent: comparison problems, remainders, factors, primes and patterns. Measurement and Data and Geometry takes 16 to 22 percent.
Two limits in the Utah core for grade 4
Fraction denominators stay with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 100, and whole numbers stop at 1,000,000. Standard 4.NBT.4 expects adding and subtracting with the standard algorithm.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the 4th grade RISE math test?
The RISE blueprint lists 50 operational items for grade 4 mathematics, five more than in grade 3. Because the test adapts to the student, the blueprint treats its domain percentages as targets.
Is the 4th grade RISE test timed?
No. The State Board's family guide to RISE says the assessments are not timed and adapt to the child's level.
What RISE tests do 4th graders take in Utah?
Mathematics, English language arts and, for the first time, science. The State Board lists RISE science from grade 4 and RISE writing in grades 5 and 8 only.
What is a proficient RISE score in 4th grade math?
Utah reports a scale score and one of four levels: Below Proficient, Approaching Proficient, Proficient and Highly Proficient. The family guides name no percent that equals Proficient, so a percent on this page is practice only.
Where are the Utah RISE training tests for 4th grade?
On the Utah RISE portal. The State Board says they let students try the online system, question types and tools, and that they give no scores. The box under the questions links to them.
