What the Tennessee Geometry EOC covers

The state's blueprint names four reporting categories, and the questions keep their shares. Congruence is the largest: transformations, triangle congruence, theorems about angles and parallelograms, and constructions. Similarity, Right Triangles, and Circles covers dilations, similar triangles, trigonometric ratios, special right triangles and sectors. Algebraic Connections covers coordinate geometry, volume and units. Statistics and Probability covers set notation, conditional probability and the Addition Rule.

Standards and working

Under each answer is the Geometry standard it practices, such as G.SRT.C.5, and the working. Every result was recomputed. The item counts and times come from the blueprint and the state's end-of-course mathematics overview.

  • Probability is on this test: 15 to 18 percent of items, from Venn diagrams to geometric probability.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the TN Geometry EOC?

The blueprint lists 37 to 42 operational items. Field test items bring the total to 46 to 56, given in three subparts over 120 minutes. This page has 42 questions, all multiple choice.

Is this a TCAP TNReady Geometry practice test?

It is unofficial practice for that test. The state's blueprint names it the TCAP Geometry end-of-course assessment, and the state's testing pages still carry TNReady in their web addresses.

Can you use a calculator on the Geometry EOC in Tennessee?

On two of the three subparts. Subpart 1 is 35 minutes with no calculator. Subparts 2 and 3, 50 and 35 minutes, are calculator subparts.

Where is the state's own TNReady Geometry practice test?

The Tennessee Department of Education keeps practice tests and item releases in its Assessment Development LiveBinder, reached through the TCAP Portal. The box under the questions links to the state's blueprint page. The questions here are different ones.

What kinds of questions are on the Geometry EOC?

Multiple choice with four options and one right answer, multiple select, and technology enhanced items. Every item is worth one point, with no partial credit.
