What a 7th grade science practice test for TN has to cover
Life science is the larger part: cell structures, single cells and many-celled bodies, body systems, reproduction, photosynthesis and respiration, the carbon cycle, genes, mutations and Punnett squares. The rest is physical science: atoms, evidence of chemical reactions, particle motion, conservation of mass and the energy in reactions and food. Grade 7 has no Earth and space category.
How the answers are checked
Under each answer is the grade 7 standard it practices. Where an answer needs a fact from outside the standard, it rests on a named public page: the National Institutes of Health for cells, genes and body systems, NASA for gases and the carbon cycle.
For a Punnett square question, write each parent's two alleles first, then pair them.
Questions and answers
What is on the TCAP practice test for 7th grade science?
The blueprint has two reporting categories. Life sciences make up 56 to 74 percent of items and physical sciences 29 to 56 percent. Engineering items, up to 10 percent, are reported with one of the two.
How many questions does the 7th grade TCAP science test have?
Students see 48 to 49 items. Only 39 to 40 are operational, meaning they count; the remainder are field test items. That is why this practice test stops at 40 questions.
How much time do 7th graders get for the TCAP science test?
They get 90 minutes, split into two 45-minute subparts. Grades 6 to 8 take the test on the state's online platform, and the state's guidance permits a calculator.
Is this a TN Ready practice test for 7th grade science?
It practices the same test. The state's blueprint calls it TCAP science; TNReady is a name still in everyday use for the state tests. Every question here is unofficial and written for this site.
