How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the Nurse Aide Written Test Content Outline that Prometric prints in its state Candidate Information Bulletins. Prometric's state list (https://www.prometric.com/nurse-aide-select-a-state/, read 2026-10-12) names Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana, Texas, New York and Oklahoma. The outline was read on 2026-10-12 in the Florida bulletin, revised November 2025 (https://www.prometric.com/files/Nurse-Aide/FL-CNA-CIB.pdf): 60 questions, a 90 minute time limit, and five areas: Role of the Nurse Aide 20%, Promotion of Safety 22%, Promotion of Function and Health of Residents 20%, Basic Nursing Care Provided by the Nurse Aide 24%, Providing Specialized Care for Residents with Changes in Health 14%. The Texas bulletin prints the same shares; the Alabama and Connecticut bulletins print 18, 18, 24, 26 and 14 percent for the same five areas. The bank holds 12, 13, 12, 14 and 9 questions in those areas (60, at the Florida shares), plus 6 on the form of the two tests. Every fact was read on 2026-10-12 in the public source the question names: the federal rules for long-term care facilities and nurse aides (42 CFR Part 483) on ecfr.gov, the Florida bulletin, and pages of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, MedlinePlus, OSHA, the FDA, the U.S. Fire Administration and the Department of Health and Human Services. What the Prometric written test covers
Prometric's content outline, read in its Florida bulletin on October 12, 2026, has five areas: role of the nurse aide 20%, promotion of safety 22%, promotion of function and health 20%, basic nursing care 24% and specialized care 14%. Sixty of the questions keep those shares.
Shares differ by state
The Texas bulletin prints the same shares. The Alabama and Connecticut bulletins print 18, 18, 24, 26 and 14 percent for the same five areas, so read your own state's bulletin.
Where the answers come from
12 questions are checked against the federal rules for nursing facilities, 42 CFR Part 483. The rest name the CDC, MedlinePlus, an NIH institute or another federal agency, and six on the two tests name Prometric's bulletin.
On the Clinical Skills test, a mistake may be corrected during the skill by telling the nurse and performing the correction.
