How this list was compiled: Outline: the Grade 3 Mathematics Evidence Statement Tables of the PARCC test design, https://resources.newmeridiancorp.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Grade-3-Math-Evidence-Statements_with-ABO-subclaim-points_a11y.pdf, with the short-form Mathematics High Level Blueprint, https://resources.newmeridiancorp.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/NMC-Math-ABO-High-Level-Blueprint.pdf, both published by New Meridian and read 2026-10-12. Each question names the sub-claim and the evidence statement it practices. Every calculation is worked out again from the numbers in the question. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site from the published evidence statements. Nothing is copied or reworded from a PARCC test, a released item, a practice test, an example in the evidence tables or another practice test.

What the grade 3 blueprint weighs

Major content gets 20 of the 52 points: multiplying and dividing within 100, two-step word problems, fractions on a number line, time, mass, liquid volume and area. Additional and supporting content gets 10: adding and subtracting within 1,000, graphs, and the geometry of perimeter and shapes. Reasoning gets 10 and modeling 12.

Is PARCC still given in third grade?

Not in the District of Columbia, a PARCC member from 2015 to 2023. It now gives DC CAPE, which keeps the same score scale and sub-claims. The test design this page follows is still published, with each evidence statement keyed to a Common Core standard.

  • Put the calculator away. Third graders get none on any unit of the real test.
  • Third grade fractions use only the denominators 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8. Practice finding equal fractions among those.

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the 3rd grade PARCC math test?

On the short form, 33 scored tasks worth 52 points: 27 machine-scored Type I tasks, 3 reasoning tasks and 3 modeling tasks. The full form has 43 scored tasks. Field-test items that do not count are mixed in.

How long is the PARCC math test in 3rd grade?

Each unit lasts 60 minutes. Third graders sit four units on the full form or three on the short form, which the District of Columbia adopted in the 2020-21 school year.

Is there a paper PARCC practice test for 3rd grade?

Yes, an unofficial one. The 52 questions here print as a paper test with an answer key, which the print window can save as a PDF, or can be answered online.

What is a good PARCC math score in 3rd grade?

PARCC reports a scaled score from 650 to 850 and one of five performance levels. In grade 3 mathematics Level 4 starts at 750 and Level 5 at 790, as the District of Columbia’s education office prints them. A percent right is a different measure.
