How this list was compiled: Our own questions, written to the test design and framework of Oklahoma Subject Area Tests field 143, Technology Engineering, in the study guide on the Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators website (https://www.ceoe.nesinc.com/Content/StudyGuide/OK_SG_OBJ_143.htm, copyright 2024 Office of Educational Quality and Accountability and Pearson Education, Inc.; test page https://www.ceoe.nesinc.com/TestView.aspx?f=HTML_FRAG/OK143_TestPage.html, read 2026-10-15): 80 selected-response questions and 1 constructed-response assignment in 4 hours, passing score 240; selected response weighs Fundamentals of Technology (competencies 0001 to 0005) 28%, Communication Systems (0006 and 0007) 18%, Construction Systems (0008 and 0009) 13%, Manufacturing Systems (0010 and 0011) 13% and Energy, Power, and Transportation Systems (0012 and 0013) 13%, and the constructed response (0014) 15%. The bank holds 50: 16, 10, 8, 8 and 8. Every fact was read in the Wikipedia article named under its question; the two answers that take arithmetic (a motor's power and a current by Ohm's law) were worked twice. OSAT Technology Engineering (143): five selected-response subareas
By the framework on the CEOE site, read October 15, 2026: Fundamentals of Technology is 28% of the test, Communication Systems 18%, and Construction Systems, Manufacturing Systems and Energy, Power, and Transportation Systems 13% each. This bank holds 16, 10, 8, 8 and 8.
What the bank leaves out
The last 15% is one written assignment on content-specific pedagogy: analyze a lesson plan for a technology engineering topic, with student work or assessment data, and describe the activities that should follow. None of the 50 questions rehearses that writing.
Two answers take arithmetic: a motor's power and a current by Ohm's law. Field 143 comes with no reference materials, by its test page.
Each systems subarea has two competencies: principles and processes first, then materials, tools and equipment. The questions keep that split.
Questions and answers
How long is the OSAT Technology Engineering test?
Testing time is 4 hours for 80 selected-response questions and one constructed-response assignment, by the test page. A 15-minute tutorial and nondisclosure agreement come first, so the appointment is 4 hours 15 minutes.
What score passes OSAT Technology Engineering (143)?
A 240, the test page says. Part of that score is the written assignment, so the tally of right answers after a round here is not a scaled score and carries no verdict.
Is the OSAT Technology Engineering test given year-round?
No. The test page says field 143 is given by appointment during specific testing windows, and each window has a deadline by which the appointment must be scheduled. Test sites are in Oklahoma and nationwide.
What does the OSAT Technology Engineering test cover?
The history and effects of technology, the engineering design process and technical drawing, shop safety, the workplace and intellectual property, and computing; then communication, construction, manufacturing, and energy, power and transportation systems.
