What the two subtests cover

By the frameworks at oh.nesinc.com, read October 12, 2026, Subtest I (046) is a single domain, Nature of Technology. Subtest II (047), The Designed World, weighs Power, Energy and Transportation 33%, Information and Communication 33%, and Manufacturing and Construction 34%. The split here, 18 questions to 30, follows the real 45 to 75.

The written assignments

Each subtest also sets three constructed-response assignments, 30% of its score, beside multiple-choice questions worth 70%. This page practices the multiple-choice part only.

Timing

A subtest allows 2 hours 30 minutes for its questions and assignments together. No time is published for the multiple-choice part alone, so the exam here runs without a clock.

  • Subtest I has only 45 questions, but its extended assignment alone is 10% of the score, so leave time to plan it.
