What the test provides

The test page lists an on-screen scientific calculator, a formulas and constants page, and a periodic table. A question here that needs a molar mass or a constant prints it.

  • The gas-law, calorimetry, equilibrium and stoichiometry answers are worked step by step in their explanations. Try each on paper before you look.

Questions and answers

Is this OAE Chemistry practice test free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no fee. The 51 questions were written for this site from the published framework of test 009. Each explanation names the public article behind it, and nothing is taken from the real assessment or its sample questions.

How many questions are on the OAE Chemistry test?

150 multiple-choice questions. The test page notes that some may be questions being evaluated for future use, which do not affect a score.

What is the passing score for OAE Chemistry?

220 of a possible 300. The State Board of Education sets the minimum, and the scaled total reflects the multiple-choice questions answered correctly, so no count of right answers here stands in for it.

Is the OAE Chemistry test offered online?

The test page for 009 lists computer-based testing at test centers, in Ohio and nationwide, by appointment year round. It does not list the online proctor that some other OAE assessments have.

Which Ohio licenses need OAE Chemistry?

The program's table lists 009 for four Adolescence to Young Adult (7–12) licenses: Physical Sciences: Chemistry, Physical Sciences (Chemistry and Physics), Life Sciences/Chemistry and Earth Sciences/Chemistry, each with Assessment of Professional Knowledge 003.
