The three testlets

Nature and Core Concepts of Technology and Engineering (testlet 331) has about 30 questions. Engineering Design and Applications of Technological Processes, Products, and Systems (332) has about 40, and Impact of Technology on Society (333) about 30, by the framework on the GACE website, read October 13, 2026.

The clock

The testlets allow 45, 60 and 45 minutes, a minute and a half a question. A timed round here keeps that pace: 50 questions in 75 minutes.

What the answers rest on

Eleven are worked from figures: a gear pair, Ohm's law, a break-even point, a critical path. The others cite a public page: Wikipedia articles for general concepts, OSHA rules, the Energy Information Administration, EPA, the Patent and Trademark Office and the National Research Council's framework.

  • Objective 0002 of testlet 332, on processes, products, feedback and systems, carries 63% of the largest testlet: about a quarter of the whole test.

Questions and answers

Is there a GACE Engineering and Technology Education study guide?

Yes. The GACE website has a study guide for the test, which it lists as Engineering and Technology (P–12), test 739. Its Assessment Design and Framework page is the outline behind these questions, and none is taken from its sample questions.

How many questions are on the GACE Engineering and Technology test?

100 selected-response questions across the three testlets. Testing time is 2 hours and 30 minutes, plus 15 minutes per session for a tutorial and a nondisclosure agreement. No reference materials are listed for it.

What is a passing score on the GACE Engineering and Technology test?

A cumulative score of at least 220, and each testlet also has a floor, a minimum score you must meet. Right answers here cannot be turned into that score, so this page claims none.

Can you take the GACE Engineering and Technology testlets one at a time?

Yes. In a single testing session you may register for any combination of the three testlets, and the result of a scored testlet is banked toward your cumulative score.
