Study guide for the physical therapy jurisprudence test, Oregon rules first

Changes coming in 2027
The 2025 Legislature amended much of the practice act with an operative date of July 1, 2027. The questions follow the text in force today.
- The calendar turns on even years: licenses lapse March 31 and the certification period starts April 1.
- Only a physical therapist may evaluate, reexamine, change the plan of care or decide on discharge.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the Oregon jurisprudence exam for physical therapy?
The OR JAM has 50 questions and a 90 minute limit, by the Federation's page for it. The pass mark is 80 percent, and attempts are not limited.
Who has to take the OR JAM?
Applicants for a new Oregon license, people reinstating a license lapsed more than one year, and applicants for a first Oregon compact privilege, who must pass it within six months before applying, according to the Federation's page.
Does the Oregon jurisprudence exam count as continuing education?
Yes. OAR 848-035-0030 gives 3 hours of continuing competence for passing the Board approved Oregon jurisprudence examination, once in any certification period.
Is the jurisprudence exam needed to renew a lapsed Oregon license?
For a license lapsed between one and five years, yes. OAR 848-010-0035 asks for 24 hours of continuing competency, the Board's fingerprint-based background check and its jurisprudence examination.
Is this the real OR JAM?
No. It is an unofficial study aid whose questions were written from Oregon's statutes and administrative rules. The Oregon Board of Physical Therapy and the Federation did not write or approve it, and it holds none of the module's questions.
