The broker state portion, item for item

The Candidate Handbook's broker outline has 75 state questions: licenses 7, educational requirements 2, business conduct and practices 40, disciplinary proceedings 8, contract forms 12, brokerage relationships 6. This bank has the same count in each.

Business conduct is more than half

Forty of the 75 come from Chapter 8 of the rules: supervision, branch offices, advertising, escrow accounts, earnest money disputes, closing a brokerage and record retention.

Rules here, statutes on the salesperson page

Every question here cites a Commission rule. The statutes of Chapter 339 are asked on the Missouri salesperson page, and no question is repeated.

  • Earnest money goes into escrow within ten banking days of the last signature, unless the contract says otherwise (20 CSR 2250-8.120).
  • A broker returns a departing salesperson's license to the Commission within 72 hours (20 CSR 2250-4.050).
  • Disputed escrow money may be disbursed in good faith after sixty days and fifteen days' certified notice (20 CSR 2250-8.130).

Questions and answers

How many questions are on the Missouri real estate broker exam?

The handbook the Commission posts lists a broker state portion of 75 questions in 120 minutes and a national portion of 90 questions, worth 100 points, in 150 minutes. Five to ten unscored experimental questions may be added.

What score passes the Missouri broker exam?

The handbook sets 75 percent on each portion of the broker exam. Some national broker questions are scored up to two points, which is why 90 questions carry 100 points.

What are the requirements for a Missouri broker license?

Rule 20 CSR 2250-3.010 asks for an active license for at least 24 of the last 30 months, the 48-hour Broker Pre-Examination Course completed within six months of applying, and both portions of the exam.

Are these the questions on the real Missouri broker exam?

No. They are our own, written from the Commission's rules in the Code of State Regulations. The national portion, the arithmetic of closing costs and the statutes are outside this page.
