How it works
Seventh graders take the four MAP Growth tests sixth graders take: Math 6+, Reading 6+, Language 2+ and Science 6–8. This unofficial set practices them at grade 7 level. Not affiliated with NWEA, which publishes MAP Growth.

What grade 7 adds
The area names are the same as in grade 6, so the difference is the content. Under The Real and Complex Number Systems the questions turn to sales tax, unit rates with fractions, constants of proportionality and negative numbers. Operations and Algebraic Thinking brings two-step equations and inequalities. Geometry adds circles, scale drawings and angle pairs; Statistics and Probability adds chance and random samples.
Fixed here, adaptive there
MAP Growth adapts to each student's answers, and NWEA says it serves students working on, above or below grade level. This set does not adapt and stays at grade 7. Each answer names its instructional area and the Common Core standard practiced, or the public page a science fact was read on.
Questions and answers
What is on the 7th grade MAP test?
Math 6+, Reading 6+, Language 2+ and Science 6–8, the tests also used in grades 6 and 8. Each has about 40 to 43 questions. NWEA's help pages say the tests a student gets depend on the school's selections.
Is there a 7th grade MAP practice test PDF?
Yes, as a printout. After a round, Print lists the questions as a sheet, and one tick adds the answer key. To keep it as a PDF, choose "Save as PDF" in the print window.
Is this an NWEA practice test for 7th grade?
It practices the NWEA tests, but NWEA did not make it. MAP Growth is the name of the tests and NWEA is their publisher. Every question here was written for this site, and none comes from a real test.
How long is MAP testing for 7th graders?
There is no time limit. NWEA's features page lists a test time of 45 to 55 minutes, and its help pages suggest adding 10 to 15 minutes for setup and instructions.
How many times a year do 7th graders take the MAP test?
Up to four times in a school year, by NWEA's test description. NWEA describes the RIT scale as independent of grade level, which is how it measures growth from one sitting to the next.
