How it works
Fifth grade is the last year on Math 2–5, Reading 2–5 and Science 2–5, taken with Language 2+. This unofficial set practices all four MAP Growth tests at grade 5 level. Not affiliated with NWEA, which publishes MAP Growth.

Grade 5 math in the 2–5 areas
Math 2–5 reports four instructional areas. At grade 5, Number and Operations means decimals to thousandths and adding, multiplying and dividing fractions. Operations and Algebraic Thinking means parentheses and number patterns. Measurement and Data means volume, unit conversions and line plots, and Geometry means the coordinate plane and sorting four-sided shapes.
How the real tests differ
The real tests adapt to each answer, which is why NWEA calls its question counts approximate. These questions do not adapt. They stay at grade 5, and every answer names its instructional area with the standard or the public page behind it.
Sixth grade moves to Math 6+ and Reading 6+, so a fifth grader who finds this set easy can try the grade 6 set.
Questions and answers
What is on the 5th grade MAP test?
NWEA lists four subjects: math, reading, language usage and science. For a fifth grader the tests are Math 2–5, Reading 2–5, Language 2+ and Science 2–5, each with about 40 to 43 questions.
Is there a 5th grade MAP practice test PDF?
Yes. Finish a round and press Print: the questions open as a sheet, with the answer key if you tick it. Pick "Save as PDF" in the print window to keep the file.
What math is on the 5th grade MAP test?
Math 2–5 has four instructional areas: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations, Measurement and Data, and Geometry. The math set on this page asks five grade 5 questions in each.
Is 5th grade MAP testing timed?
No. NWEA describes MAP Growth as untimed. Its features page lists a test time of 45 to 55 minutes, and its test summary gives about 45 to 60 minutes.
What is a good MAP score for a 5th grader?
NWEA's pages name no passing score. Results are RIT scores for the subject and each instructional area, on a scale NWEA describes as independent of grade level, and schools read them against NWEA's achievement norms. A percent right here is not a RIT score.
