What the 5th grade Missouri MAP math test covers
The blueprint reports grade 5 in four categories, and the questions keep its shares. Fractions has 12: decimals for fractions whose denominators are factors of 100, ordering, estimating, sums with unlike denominators, products and unit-fraction division. Geometry and Measurement with Data and Statistics has 13: shape hierarchies, pyramids, volume, the coordinate plane, unit conversions, line graphs and line plots. Relationships and Algebraic Thinking has 8: paired patterns, order of operations and written expressions. Base Ten has 7: numbers to billions, powers of 10 and decimal operations.
Two topics Missouri sets in grade 5
The Missouri Learning Standards ask fifth graders to find the median and the outliers of a line plot and to describe prisms and pyramids. Both are practiced here.
No calculator is allowed in any session of the grade 5 math test, so work every question by hand.
