What the 7th grade Missouri MAP math test covers
Missouri's blueprint reports grade 7 mathematics in four categories, and each share here sits inside its range. Expressions, Equations and Inequalities has 12 questions: simplifying, factoring, converting among fractions, decimals and percents, and solving equations and inequalities. Ratios and Proportional Relationships has 9: unit rates, proportional tables and graphs, tax, discount and percent error. Number Sense and Operations has 8, on rational numbers. The last category has 14: seven on scale, circles, angles, cross sections and volume, seven on sampling and probability.
The performance event is not here
The third session of the real test is a performance event: a real-world scenario with constructed-response items that trained readers score. These 43 questions practice the rest of the test.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the 7th grade Missouri MAP math test?
Missouri's blueprint counts points, not questions: 54 for grade 7. The performance event carries 8 of them, and the four reporting categories share the other 46.
How long is the 7th grade MAP math test?
It has three sessions. The state's spring 2024 timing guidelines estimate 30 to 50 minutes for each of the first two and 30 to 40 minutes for the third.
Can 7th graders use a calculator on the Missouri MAP test?
In mathematics, yes. The timing guidelines mark each grade 7 math session "Calculators Allowed." Grades 3 to 5 are marked "Calculators Not Allowed."
What is a Proficient score on 7th grade MAP math?
A scale score of 435 to 461. Below Basic is 270 to 393, Basic is 394 to 434 and Advanced is 462 to 600, the state's guide to interpreting results says.
Is there an official Missouri MAP practice test for 7th grade?
Yes. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education posts a grade 7 math practice form for paper and pencil, a large-print copy and a scoring guide on its Grade-Level Assessment page, linked under the questions. This page is separate and unofficial.
