How this list was compiled: Outline: Mathematics Blueprint (8/6/2020), Kentucky Department of Education, https://www.education.ky.gov/AA/Acct/Documents/FINAL%20Mathematics%20Blueprint%2020200806.pdf, read 2026-10-13: the five grade 7 domains and the target percent of items in each. Standards: Kentucky Academic Standards for Mathematics (adopted 2019), grade 7, https://www.education.ky.gov/curriculum/standards/kyacadstand/Documents/Kentucky_Academic_Standards_Mathematics.pdf, read 2026-10-13: each question names the standard it practices and keeps to what that standard asks (equations of the forms px + q = r and p(x + q) = r, inequalities of the form px + q > r, circle questions that never ask for a radius from an area, surface area of cubes, pyramids and right prisms, circle graphs among the data displays, the mean absolute deviation and the interquartile range as the measures of variability). The number of questions is that of the 2025-2026 Testing Items and Times Chart, https://www.education.ky.gov/AA/distsupp/Documents/KSA_Testing_Items_and_Times.pdf. Every calculation is worked out a second time from the numbers in the question. Licence: Own work. Questions, answer choices and explanations were written for this site. Nothing is copied or reworded from a Kentucky Summative Assessment, a K-PREP test, a released item, a practice test of the state or another practice test, and no example of the standards document is reused. How it works
Grade 7 mathematics practice for the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA), the test once called K-PREP. The 40 questions are ours, written from the state's blueprint and standards. This unofficial page uses no released item and is not affiliated with the Kentucky Department of Education.

What KSA grade 7 math covers
Kentucky's blueprint spreads grade 7 almost evenly. Ratios and Proportional Relationships, Expressions and Equations, Geometry, and Statistics and Probability each have 20 to 25 percent of the items, and The Number System has 15 to 20. Percent problems, two-step equations and inequalities, circles and scale drawings, and probability weigh about the same, with operations on negative numbers just behind.
Circle graphs in Kentucky's grade 7 statistics
Standard KY.7.SP.0 has students compare groups of different sizes with circle graphs, scaled pictographs and bar graphs, and two questions here practice it. The circle standard, KY.7.G.4, does not expect a radius to be found from an area, so no question asks for one. Each answer names its standard.
About a third of the real grade 7 test is non-calculator: try the fraction and negative-number questions without one.
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the KSA grade 7 math test?
40, by the state's Testing Items and Times Chart for 2025-2026. A form has 27 to 32 multiple-choice questions, 3 short-answer questions and 2 extended-response questions; the others are multiple select or technology enhanced.
How much time do 7th graders get for KSA math?
120 minutes, split into two parts, with no calculator in Part A. In 2026 schools gave the tests between April 13 and June 5.
What calculator is allowed on the 7th grade KSA math test?
An on-screen scientific calculator, in the calculator part only. Kentucky's policy gives grades 6 to 8 the scientific calculator and grades 3 to 5 a four-function one.
What do KSA math scores mean in 7th grade?
Each student gets a scale score and a performance level: Novice, Apprentice, Proficient or Distinguished. There is no percent to pass, so a percent on this page is only practice.
What other KSA tests are given in 7th grade?
Reading and science, by the 2025-2026 chart. Reading takes 120 to 140 minutes and science takes 90 minutes.
