What is left out
Only the law is asked, and every question names its statute or regulation. Fees, application forms, the equipment and staffing rules for sedation permits (12 AAC 28.010 to 28.062) and the controlled substance database statute in the booklet's appendix stay out. The text is the board's booklet dated September 2026. This is practice for an exam, not medical advice.
- Dentists owe 32 contact hours of continuing education per renewal and dental hygienists 20 (12 AAC 28.400).
- A collaborative agreement needs 4,000 documented clinical hours in five years and may not run past two years (AS 08.32.115, 12 AAC 28.956).
- Patient and facility records are kept at least seven years after they are created (AS 08.36.315).
Questions and answers
What score do you need on the Alaska dental jurisprudence exam?
At least 70 percent. 12 AAC 28.940(c) asks a dentist applying by examination to pass the written Alaska jurisprudence examination, conducted by the board, with that score, and 12 AAC 28.935(c) says the same for dental hygienists.
How many questions does the Alaska jurisprudence exam have?
No question count and no time limit appear in the regulations, so none is printed here. Scored runs on this page ask 25 questions against the 70 percent mark and run without a clock.
What is on the Alaska dental jurisprudence exam?
12 AAC 28.951(d) describes an examination prepared by the board covering the provisions of AS 08.32, AS 08.36 and 12 AAC 28. This page drills all three and shows the section after each answer.
Who must pass the Alaska jurisprudence exam?
Dentists and dental hygienists, applying by examination or by credentials. 12 AAC 28.940 and 28.951 require the jurisprudence examination of dentists, and 12 AAC 28.935 and 28.937 of dental hygienists.
Is this the Alaska board's own exam?
No. Every question here was written from the public statutes and regulations, and none comes from the examination. The page has not been reviewed by the Alaska Board of Dental Examiners.
