How it works
This unofficial Wyoming esthetician practice test asks what the Board's rules and the Wyoming Cosmetology Act say. It is not affiliated with the Wyoming Board of Cosmetology, the National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) or its test administrator.

What the theory exam weighs
Wyoming's theory examination is NIC's. By the bulletin effective September 1, 2025, Scientific Concepts carry 55 percent of its items and Skin Care and Services 45 percent.
How the 74 questions divide
Chapter 10 of the Board's rules supplies the 27 infection control questions and the 11 on blood exposure and chemicals. Fifteen are on products, wax, lashes and the scope of esthetics. The other 21 are license law.
- UV light is not acceptable for disinfection in Wyoming (Chapter 10, section 1).
- Roll on wax, multiuse sponges and styptic pencils may not be present in a salon (Chapter 10, section 17).
- A procedure that pierces the epidermal or dermal layer is invasive and prohibited (Chapter 1, section 6).
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the Wyoming esthetician exam?
The examiner's bulletin for the Board lists two computer-based examinations: Esthetics theory, 110 questions with 10 unscored, and Written Practical Esthetics, 50 questions. Each allows 90 minutes and has a passing score of 70.
What is on the Wyoming written practical exam for estheticians?
The bulletin lists six areas: work area preparation and set up of supplies, client preparation and basic facial, work area and new client preparation, eyebrow hair removal with simulated soft wax and tweezing, facial makeup, and the blood exposure procedure (20 percent).
Does Wyoming have a state law test for estheticians?
The Board's exam page asks for the NIC theory and written-practical examinations and names no state law test. The license law questions on this page are extra practice on the Board's rules and the Act.
Are these the actual Wyoming esthetician exam questions?
No. They are this site's own, written from Chapters 1, 2, 6, 7 and 10 of the Board's rules and the Wyoming Cosmetology Act. Anatomy, skin disorders and chemistry are missing because no Wyoming text states them; the Washington esthetics test here has them.
How many hours is esthetician school in Wyoming?
No less than 600 hours of theory and practical instruction, over at least three months (Chapter 6, section 4). The Board's FAQ says Wyoming does not offer a license through apprenticeship.
