The title marketing representative exam
Utah licenses three title categories: title examination, escrow, and title marketing representative only. The marketing exam gives 45 percent of its 50 questions to marketing title insurance. Its outline cites rule R592-6, which sets limits such as $25 for a self-promotional item, $100 a person a day for a business meal and two open houses a year.
Which groups fit the other two exams
The Title Examination outline gives 35 percent to real property and 22 percent to title exceptions and clearing title, so start with deeds, recording and liens. The Title Escrow outline gives 35 percent to real estate transactions, so start with Escrow and trust money.
A Utah title producer needs 12 hours of continuing education every two years, 3 in ethics; after 20 straight licensed years, 6 (31A-23a-202).
An unrecorded Utah deed is void against a later good-faith buyer for value who records first (57-3-103).
A trustee waits three months after recording a notice of default before giving notice of sale (57-1-24).
Questions and answers
How many questions are on the Utah title insurance exam?
The Licensing Information Bulletin effective September 25, 2025 lists three exams: Title Marketing Representative, 50 questions in one hour, and Title Examination and Title Escrow, 100 questions in two hours each. It prints no pass mark, so this page gives none.
Is there a Utah title insurance marketing practice test?
Yes. The Marketing practices group has 17 questions on rebates, inducements and affiliated business, from Utah Code 31A-23a-402, 31A-23a-1003 and 31A-23a-1004 and rule R592-6. The marketing outline cites 31A-23a-402 and R592-6. Its policy form topics are not asked here.
Does Utah require a course before the title exam?
No. The Utah Insurance Department's exam page says Utah requires no pre-licensing before licensure. A producer may not do escrow, though, without being examined on the fiduciary duties of escrow (Utah Code 31A-23a-204).
Are these the real Utah title exam questions?
No. They are our own, written from the Utah Code and Utah Administrative Code. This site has never seen the state exam, and the Utah Insurance Department did not write or review them.
